Studio systems
The signer goes in like any other web graphic. Each system below takes the overlay link as a browser or HTML source; the steps are the same idea everywhere.
Before you start
Create an overlay and keep its link (
https://www.usesigna.org/overlay/…#ovt_…). Size every source to your output, 1920 × 1080 for HD, then scale and place it where you want the signer.vMix
- Add Input → Web Browser.
- Paste the overlay link; set the size to 1920 × 1080.
- Put the input on an overlay channel (1–4) and turn it on, or use it in a Multi View layer.
- Position and zoom it in the input's Position settings. The background is already see-through.
OBS Studio and Streamlabs
- Sources → + → Browser.
- Paste the overlay link; width 1920, height 1080.
- Turn off "Shutdown source when not visible", so the signer stays connected between scenes.
- Drag the source into place; it is transparent already.
CasparCG
- Play the link as an HTML producer on a layer above the programme:
PLAY 1-20 [HTML] "https://www.usesigna.org/overlay/…#ovt_…"- Move and scale it with
MIXER 1-20 FILL 0.62 0.3 0.36 0.68, and take it off withSTOP 1-20.
Vizrt, Ross XPression, Chyron PRIME
- Add the system's web/HTML element (Viz Engine's web page texture, XPression's HTML5 object, PRIME's HTML element) to a template.
- Set its address to the overlay link and its size to the output.
- Take the template on air on a layer above the programme, as you would a name strap.
Wirecast, TriCaster, Blackmagic ATEM
| System | How |
|---|---|
| Wirecast | Add Shot → Web Page, with the overlay link. |
| TriCaster | Use the link as a browser source (LiveGraphics or a browser input), keyed above the programme. |
| ATEM | ATEM switchers don't show web pages: show the link full screen on a graphics computer (or a vMix/OBS machine) going into the switcher, with ?bg=00ff00, and key out the green with an upstream chroma key. |
Recorded programmes and editors
If your system can't show web pages
Any computer can: open the overlay link full screen in a browser with ?bg=00ff00 and bring that computer's output into your mixer, keyed. A direct video feed (NDI or SRT) for systems that need one is planned; tell us if you need it.
